Malmesbury, Dec 2021.
A team led by Greenacres Engineering successfully refurbished and installed a used Hennecke WKH 32 oval conveyor, dual-hardness robot and foam dispensing system that was imported from the customer site in Indonesia. The plant was completely disassembled and transported to SA by sea. The 40' shipping containers arrived in SA in February 2021 and the team immediately started unpacking, sorting and cleaning all the assemblies.
Due to excellent documentation provided by the original equipment manufacurer Hennecke Gmbh, the installation, refurbishment and upgrades to the 10 year old plant were effortlessly carried out, despite the various disruptions resulting from COVID restrictions. In July 2021 the first seat cushion samples were produced for the automotive OEM client and approvals rapidly followed.
The integration of the various technical teams, specialists and the co-operation from the client contributed to the completion of the successful project. The original build quality and spare parts service from Hennecke GmbH enabled the installation team to complete the overhaul and refurbishment within the alloted time frame under the leadership of the Greenacres Engineering team.

F&K (Fecken-Kirfel) S12 Rotary Slitter completely refurbished in our workshop:
Greenacres Machine Engineering (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of the Greenacres Group in SA, delivered a horizontal foam cutting machine equipped with a 5,6m rotary carousel to a customer in South Africa. The machine was imported from Europe in used condition and underwent a comprehensive mechanical and electrical systems overhaul before being tested and delivered to our client in the mattress manufacturing industry. All wearing parts were inspected and renewed, including every single screw, bolt and nut being replaced. "The machine is probably in better condition now than when it was delivered new in 1976" commented Des Green, Managing Director at Greenacres Group.
The OEM mechanical build quality is so good, enabling the company to refurbish the machine using locally available components and manufactured sub-assemblies. Total cost compares very well with new equipment sourced from the Far East with the added advantage that the local service and parts backup is guaranteed and problem free.

GREENACRES MACHINE ENGINEERING (PTY) LTD LAUNCHES:
Greenacres Holdings (Pty) Ltd have completed the acquisition of the remaining shares in their Joint Venture with Albrecht Baeumer GmbH & co KG, (Greenacres-Baeumer Cutting Media Pty Ltd) and have received CIPC approval to rebrand the company as GREENACRES MACHINE ENGINEERING (PTY) LTD, effective immediately.
"Our inability to reach consensus about the future growth strategy of the company and our partner's fears of increased international competition from the JV's expanded activities, resulted in the company being in a state of limbo for more than a year", stated Des Green (Managing Director). "It became very clear to us that we would not be able to agree on the way forward so we took the necessary measures to take control of the majority shareholding and finally to take over the complete company with all capacities and technologies intact," he concluded. "We are very proud of our accomplishments and the fact that we delivered a substantial number of high quality cutting tool products to Albrecht Baeumer in Germany, for resale to their customers in Europe, demonstrating our capability, quality and our very competitive production efficiency".
The newly branded GREENACRES MACHINE ENGINEERING (PTY) LTD will expand it's activities and in addition to manufacturing high quality cutting tools, the company will manufacture new machinery for foam converting applications and supply used and retrofitted machinery sourced from Europe. The non-competitiveness of European OEM's for new foam converting equipment in the Africa market was one of the major drivers leading to the expansion of the company activities.
"We wish to assure all our customers that they will continue to be served with high quality products and efficient after sales services by a friendly team as before. Now we are free to execute our vision unimpeded and without restriction," concluded Des Green.

Hennecke GmbH of Sankt-Augustin Germany, invited visitors attending the INTERZUM furniture trade fair held in Cologne, to the production demonstration at their Technical Center in Birlinghoven where the J-FLEX continuous slabstock foaming plant was displayed.
The J-FLex technology has been in development for several years with numerous plants already delivered to customers around the globe. Latest improvements include increased production speeds of up to 2.5 m/min and lower density foams being possible in addition to the standard polyether based foams, HR foams and visco-elastic foams already produced with this technology.
Greenacres Group accompanied a delegation of customers from the Southern Africa Region who were particularly interested in the J-Flex technology. Main advantages were the efficient use of space and low investment required in tank-farm infra-structure and buildings when compared with a conventional continuous foaming line. The complete production line extends about 23m in length and 6 m in width, including the block end-off cutting equipment ABLG-1 and ancillairy chemical tanks / IBC's.
The fine-cell foam structure achieved and the rectangular block shape delivered by the Hennecke flat top system, were points that impressed all the cusomers, in attendance from various countries around the globe.
At the demonstration, the new ABLG-1 block end off cutter was also demonstrated.
